With two week before the end of this first Autumn term, the Lower Juniors have been working hard preparing for all the end of term activities. The year 4s have been working hard to prepare for the Listen to Me concert on Tuesday 13th December. The theme is Samba and we are all looking forward to hearing those South American rhythms.
They have also been working hard to perfect their performances for the Christmas Panto, Panto Crime, which will be performed to the school on Wednesday 7th December and for families and friends on the evening of Friday 9th December. Book your tickets now!
Also, all year 3 and 4 children are really needed to supply the dramatic music for the performances. So we hope as many as possible will turn up at school on Friday evening to sing at the performance.
It has also been an exciting week for Elm Class who have had their annual trip to Winchester Cathedral for the special schools Carol concert.
Also, Ash and Oak have had a great trip, on a very frosty day, to Butser Ancient Farm. They have seen how life in the Stone Age must have been and have experienced working in Stone Age housing and made Chalk carvings. Although it was frosty, the sun came out and all had a very exciting day there.
This week the year 3s have been looking at Dragon tales and have had the excitement of handling a dragon egg!? This coming week they will be exploring writing about dragons.
The year 4s have been writing and editing their humorous poems. They have used the style of another poet and have been describing in poetic form many different monsters that have eaten their teacher! This coming week they will be looking at comparing stories by the same author, Roald Dahl.
In maths this week the year 3 classes have been looking at art by Kandinsky. They have been describing line and shape. The year 4s have been looking weather data. They have looked at temperature and sunshine records of Liss and Kafuro as well as recording data from our own weather station here at Liss School. Next week they will be presenting and comparing data in a variety of ways.
They will all have Maths, English and Topic homework set throughout the term. Maths will be set on a Monday and will be either worksheets, Ed City work or Times Tables Rock Star work. English or Topic homework will be sent home on Wednesday. They will have a week to complete it.
The Year 3 s and 4s also have spellings and tables each week and will be tested on them at the end of the week.
Times tables Rock Stars: As a new adventure, they have been given a password and instructions to log on and create a rock star which they can develop by earning money from table’s challenges at https://ttrockstars.com/login. This is a great activity to help them remember their times tables and we know they will enjoy it!
Times tables challenges can also be found on Ed City. If you are having trouble logging into Ed City site then we have found that Google Chrome if the best search engine to use to access the site.
